Profile

Madge Bailey’s 25 year experience is concentrated in waterway regeneration and the moorings and boating business sector.

 

Prior to establishing her consultancy in 2010, Madge worked for the Canal & River Trust (formerly British Waterways) for 17 years and was responsible for tourism development, regeneration and moorings business in London. She then became the leading specialist in moorings for the Trust, establishing their guidance for new marina development, residential moorings policy and national standards for mooring management and pricing.

Having operated at all levels – policy making, strategy development, project delivery and hands-on management, she develops realistic solutions based on a sound understanding of how waterways work, the regulatory and licensing framework plus market conditions. She has built up extensive knowledge of the markets for leisure, residential, commercial and tourism moorings.  She draws together professionals with different disciplines as required and consults broadly to consider the perspectives of all stake-holders.

Her consultancy advises a broad range of clients from the public, private and charity sector including the major navigation authorities, local authorities and commercial mooring operators, along with not-for-profit sites and individual house-boaters.
